Help Wanted - Executive Chef
Executive Chef Position Overview:
Perform Executive Chef duties in a fast-paced environment for the Wedgewood Cove restaurant and banquet facility. Position requires a passion for excellence and quality of food and presentation. Support the Food and Beverage Director, as well as co-workers. Must have excellent people skills, including good communication with entire staff. The Executive Chef position also requires excellent problem solving skills and be able to handle themselves professionally in high pressure situations.
Executive Chef Job Duties:
1. Create healthy and delicious food options
2. Manage all kitchen staff. Recruitment and training of all kitchen staff
3. Plan menus and handle special menu requests
4. Establish a good relationship with suppliers
5. Manage sanitation, health and safety standards in kitchen work areas
6. Make sure all recipes are being followed and food orders are being properly delivered with consistency
7. Make certain all food is being stored correctly and make corrections when necessary
8. Properly train all kitchen staff on preparation of recipes
9. Properly train all kitchen staff on health and safety in the workplace, and their responsibility in respect to health and safety
10. Properly train all kitchen staff on how to comply with Wedgewood Cove’s Personal Hygiene and Uniform Policies.
11. Conduct kitchen staff performance reviews every six months. Offer training and coaching when necessary
12. Attend team meetings and management meetings as required
13. Hold and direct staff meetings
14. Schedule and assign duties to kitchen staff
15. Decide on portions of food to be served
Executive Chef Skills/Qualifications:
1. Leadership / Management skills
2. Either have or are able to acquire a CFPM certification within 60 days of hire
3. Supply Management, delegation, staffing, supervision, reporting skills
4. The ability to stand for several hours at a time, Lifting, bending, and stretching
5. The ability to read and understand instructions
6. The ability to take direction from other Managers and superiors
Education: Preferred 4 year Culinary / management education / High school education or equivalent
Work Experience: Preferred 4 years of Executive Chef and management experience in a restaurant type setting
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ease with in-person contacts. Strong organizational and time-management skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently. Experience with kitchen and cooking machines and utensils.
Educations: Prefer a 4 year culinary / management education
Work Experience: Prefer 4 years of Executive Chef and management experience in a restaurant type setting

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year depending on education and experience
