Job Overview
We are a closed-door long-term care pharmacy serving assisted living facilities (ALFs) and are seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). This role is ideal for a pharmacist with a strong LTC background and proven management and leadership skills who can oversee pharmacy operations and lead staff in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Act as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) per California Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Oversee daily operations of a closed-door LTC pharmacy
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory requirements
- Manage, direct, and supervise pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy staff
- Provide strong leadership in staff scheduling, workflow, and performance management
- Develop and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures
- Ensure safe, accurate dispensing and medication management for assisted living patients
- Serve as primary contact for audits, inspections, and regulatory agencies
- Collaborate with assisted living facilities, prescribers, and internal teams
Requirements
- Active California Pharmacist license (required)
- Previous experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or supervisory pharmacist preferred
- Strong Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy experience, especially in assisted living settings
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience
- Ability to effectively manage and direct pharmacy employees
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of LTC pharmacy workflows and compliance standards
