American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract at a Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and willingness to float within a regional health system.

Work setting is a 40-bed ICU within a 457-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center

Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, optiflow and BiPAP patients, overdose patients, CRRT, GI bleeds, and some trauma patients

Patient ratio is 1:1–3

Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1900–0700), 36 hours per week

EMR is Epic; experience with Epic is expected
-
IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips; unit-specific equipment includes Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and life flow
-
Floating is required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — do not apply if unwilling to float to all facilities in the region

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call or call-back requirements

Holiday coverage expected for 75% of assigned holidays

Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency with critical care drips including insulin, vasopressors, and sedation
-
Experience managing invasive lines (arterial lines, CVP), ventilators, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, blood products, and wound care
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible

Department support includes CNAs (turning, ADLs, lab draws), charge nurse 24/7, respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalist and intensivist 24/7, and an IV/VAT team; RNs are responsible for phlebotomy with limited hospital-wide support available

Telemetry monitoring via hardwire monitors and travel tele boxes

Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; contracted hours must still be met

Navy scrubs are required
