Job Summary
Premier Products is a leading manufacturer of Seating, HVAC Systems and Windows to the RV Industry. Our corporate offices are located in NJ and our production facility is located in Elkhart, Indiana.
The R&D Welder works closely with engineers, designers, and technicians to fabricate prototype components and experimental products. This role requires advanced welding skills, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and flexibility to work on custom, one-of-a-kind projects rather than repetitive production work.
We are looking for talented, dependable individuals who are detail-oriented.
Key Responsibilities
- Weld and fabricate prototype parts using MIG, and other welding processes as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD prints.
- Build, modify, and repair prototypes, fixtures, jigs, and test equipment.
- Work with a variety of materials.
- Perform cutting, grinding, fitting, and finishing operations.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve product designs and manufacturing methods.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure prototypes meet design specifications.
- Document fabrication changes and provide feedback during product development.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe, organized work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 3+ years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in MIG welding.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
- Experience with fabrication equipment such as saws, presses, grinders, and brake presses.
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent).
- Experience in prototype development or research and development environments.
- Knowledge of metallurgy and welding procedures for various materials.
