Job Summary
Join American Woodwork Inc’s Wisconsin shop as a cabinet maker producing high-end custom cabinetry and architectural millwork. Under the direction of the Shop Lead, Foreman, and Plant Manager, you’ll complete work orders to our quality standards and to our customers’ specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out assigned tasks from the Shop Lead, Foreman, and/or Plant Manager while using time, materials, and equipment efficiently.
Set up, operate, and maintain woodworking tools and machinery, including hand routers, saws, stationary equipment, and powered hand tools.
Read and interpret shop drawings and build to specification.
Fabricate custom wood products and cabinetry per drawings from the drafting/engineering team.
Consult with engineering and production management on construction methods and best practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all company safety rules and OSHA/State of Wisconsin regulations.
Help maintain or reduce estimated labor and material costs per project.
Work 40 to 50+ hours per week as production schedules require.
Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; communicate effectively with teammates and management.
Train and mentor less-experienced team members as directed.
Demonstrate familiarity with architectural millwork products and AWI standards.
Show working knowledge of:
- Cabinet and architectural hardware
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; technical school training in woodworking/cabinetry is a plus.
3–5 years of experience in a commercial cabinet shop, millwork shop, or equivalent woodworking environment.
Experience with radius/curved millwork is a plus.
Comfortable reading shop drawings and building custom casework to AWI standards.
Physical and Other Requirements
Ability to lift 50–75 pounds on a daily basis.
Must pass a pre-employment physical/musculoskeletal exam.
Must pass a drug screening.
Must pass an audiogram/hearing test.
