Job Description
Insight Exposure & Risk Sciences is seeking a Director of Technology Infrastructure & Security to direct and manage Insight’s internal technology strategy, ensuring our people, systems, and data operate securely, efficiently, and cohesively across the organization. Specifically, this role will direct and manage our business and project management technological infrastructure, including file storage systems, project collaboration systems, human resources and benefits systems, and accounting and financial systems. This role also manages our third-party information technology (IT) vendors, establishes and executes best practices for security and internal systems governance practices, and enables seamless collaboration and information access across our geographically distributed employees.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on technology leader with an innovative and research-oriented mindset. The candidate must have experience with startup- or small-company information technology environments, with specific experience in design and management of business system integrations. The candidate will have responsibility for advancing and updating Insight’s technology strategy as well as managing information technology security.
General Responsibilities:
- Define a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with business growth, operational goals, and security objectives.
- Manage and administer enterprise information technology environment and ensure seamless data communications between project and business enterprise systems, including our file storage systems, human resources and benefits systems, and accounting and financial systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure IT infrastructure across our office and remote work environments.
- Serve as the primary technology advisor to executive leadership.
- Lead the discovery and evaluation of enterprise systems, including an intranet, by engaging internal stakeholders, analyzing organizational needs, evaluating industry best practices, and synthesizing research into well-informed solution recommendations for Insight management.
- Direct Insight’s existing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Technology strategy and roadmap. Specifically, direct exploration and implementation of a document summary tool, a library indexing, search and synthesis tool, and general productivity tools.
· Identify new technology opportunities as the AI landscape evolves.
- Direct and manage relationship with the organization’s third-party IT service provider, who is responsible for end-user support, hardware procurement, device lifecycle and asset management, and network administration, ensuring service quality, performance, and alignment with business needs.
- Ensure that IT service provider provides reliable and secure data access and company network connectivity across our office and remote environments.
- Manage company-wide IT budget.
- Manage and update Insight’s cyber risk and cybersecurity policies and compliance consistent with ISO 27001.
- Direct cyber incident response, data loss recovery, and IT risk management framework.
- Conduct regular information system audits, vulnerability scans, and risk assessments (with delegation to vendors if appropriate).
Qualifications (Required):
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing corporate and distributed infrastructure
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success implementing and integrating cloud-based platforms at small companies with less than 100 employees.
- Proven success scaling IT systems and processes in a growth-stage and multi-site environment
- Strategic mindset with hands-on expertise in infrastructure, networking, and updating of enterprise systems
- Strong understanding MS365 administration and access controls, cloud architecture for systems such as DropBox and Box, company server systems, and cybersecurity best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including specific experience collaborating with company leaders.
· Demonstrated understanding of the principles of operation of AI tools, particularly large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation systems (RAGs), and language action models (LAMs).
· Hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered workflows using LLMs, RAG systems, and agentic tools - including tool selection, integration with existing platforms (M365, cloud storage), and staff rollout.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Experience in a professional services environment, particularly a consulting company environment.
- Certifications such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Familiarity with ISO 27001-compliant information technology environments
Location:
In-person and hybrid schedules are available based out of our physical office located in Boulder, Colorado.
$155K – $195K base salary
This is a full-time, exempt position.
