Role
Under the supervision of the Sales Manager, the Warehouse Manager is primarily responsible for supervision of the warehouse and delivery staff and management of the general storage and material handling duties related to the warehouse. This includes loading and unloading vehicles and trucks, handling materials within warehouse and to/from loading area, verifying materials shipped against the pick list, maintaining warehouse and showroom cleanliness, maintaining displays and sample placement, and maintaining miscellaneous supply levels.
Responsibilities
Receiving
Meet drivers at the loading dock and assure that they log in their deliveries.
Check deliveries to make sure they are in good shape and as noted on the shipping manifest, and compare them to the purchase orders.
Record merchandise delivered into the warehouse on a computer system.
Store merchandise in the warehouse and record the location of storage.
Vendor Returns and Other Shipping
Pull merchandise from the warehouse or showroom floor.
Recognize differences in product vendor names, material identifications, and styles
Wrap and label merchandise for shipping.
Load merchandise on trucks.
Update inventory records.
Determine appropriate means of packaging materials.
Determine correct freight charges relative to weights.
Material Management/Storage
Operate forklift to move merchandise to be picked up to convenient staging location.
Operate forklift to place or remove merchandise from storage racks.
Maintain inventory in the racking system.
Maintain warehouse and showroom order and cleanliness.
Insure samples are labeled and displayed properly on the showroom floor immediately upon arrival.
Computer System Updates
With the Showroom Manager, review warehouse and inventory management policies.
Enter and update warehouse and inventory records.
