Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep of affordable housing properties. This role is responsible for completing general maintenance tasks, preparing vacant units, and ensuring the property remains safe, clean, and well-maintained for residents. This position focuses on basic maintenance responsibilities and does not require advanced HVAC or plumbing certifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete routine maintenance and repair requests in occupied apartments and common areas
- Perform basic repairs including drywall patching, painting, door and lock repairs, light fixture replacement, and minor carpentry
- Prepare vacant apartments for new residents, including cleaning, painting, and minor repairs
- Conduct property inspections to identify maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain grounds and common areas to ensure curb appeal and cleanliness
- Replace air filters, smoke detector batteries, light bulbs, and other basic components
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and seasonal property upkeep
- Remove trash and debris from property as needed
- Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and supply inventory
- Follow company safety procedures and respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to residents and staff
Qualifications
- Previous apartment maintenance, handyman, custodial, or general maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of painting, drywall, carpentry, and general repairs
- Ability to use standard maintenance tools and equipment safely
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Pay: $23.00 per hour
