Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Onsite Technician to support installation of voice, data, low-voltage, security, and fire alarm systems at customer locations. This role is essential to delivering high-quality, efficient project execution and maintaining our strong reputation with clients.
Key Responsibilities

- Plan, organize, and execute installations to meet deadlines and client expectations
- Communicate clearly with team members and clients
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine cabling pathways and device layouts
Cabling & Installation
- Install wire and terminate:
◦ Copper (Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6a)
◦ Fiber optic cables
◦ Coaxial and fire alarm cables
- Install cable raceways
- Terminate voice/data jacks and patch panels
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine cabling pathways and device layouts
Security Systems
- Install, wire, and support security systems, including:
◦ CCTV / video surveillance cameras and recording equipment
◦ Card access control systems and door hardware
◦ Intrusion detection devices (motion sensors, door/window contacts)
- Assist with device mounting, wiring, and system layout per plans and code
- Perform basic testing and verification of security system components
- Troubleshoot wiring and device issues under supervision or guidance
- Ensure all installations comply with applicable safety standards and codes
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine cabling pathways and device layouts
Fire Alarm Systems
- Install, wire, and support fire alarm systems, including:
◦ Control panels
◦ Initiating devices (pull stations, smoke/heat detectors)
◦ Notification devices (horns, strobes, speakers)
- Assist with device mounting, wiring, and system layout per plans and code
- Perform basic testing and verification of fire alarm circuits and devices
- Troubleshoot wiring and device issues under supervision or guidance
- Ensure all installations comply with applicable safety standards and codes (e.g., NFPA guidelines and local regulations)
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine cabling pathways and device layouts
Additional Duties
- Build, mount, and organize racks and equipment
- Label all cabling for identification and traceability
- Follow all safety standards, codes, and company procedures
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Assist with additional tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of telecom, low-voltage cabling, and installation practices
- Basic understanding of security systems including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection
- Basic understanding of fire alarm systems and wiring
- Familiarity with fire alarm codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 72) is a plus
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Prior experience in voice/data or low-voltage installation preferred
- Proficiency with hand tools
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and auto insurance
- Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. unassisted
- Comfortable climbing and working on ladders frequently
- Ability to work on scissor lifts and at heights
- Ability to perform overhead work
- Capable of crawling, standing, or sitting for extended periods
- Comfortable working in confined spaces
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
