Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry, ensuring smooth clinical operations
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care and treatment planning
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing dental materials, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to promote ongoing oral health awareness
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or other patient management software systems
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical documentation, and medical imaging techniques
- Experience with dental x-ray procedures, including dental sterilization procedures and infection control standards
- Ability to operate dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental instruments, and medical imaging devices
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and the unique needs of pediatric patients
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members like dental receptionists and healthcare professionals
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA compliance) and healthcare infection prevention protocols
