Northampton Primary Care is looking for a friendly, dependable and patient focused phlebotomist to join their high quality care team. Previous phlebotomy experience is preferred as this position requires a high volume of blood draws.
In addition to other duties as assigned, this position primarily exists to perform venipuncture, arterial and capillary puncture on adults and pediatric patients; also to check the quality of blood from patient donors. This role emphasizes a team-based approach to care and supports each member of the team.
Qualifications
- Must be a high school graduate.
- Must be a graduate of accredited phlebotomy diploma program.
- Must have minimum of two years phlebotomist, certified assistant or EMT recent work experience.
- CPT certification is required within 6 months of employment.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate ability to work effectively with patients; must be courteous, friendly, diplomatic, tactful and professional.
- Must have ability to apply written guidelines and standard work practices.
- Must have knowledge of safety hazards common to laboratory services; i.e., contact with infectious patients, etc.
- Must work flexible hours as required by the position.
General Duties
General duties include, but are not limited to, the following abilities:
- To prepare patients for blood drawing and draw blood following established procedures for patient care and safety; to identify and label specimens.
- To instruct patients on collection procedures and communicate in a manner which promotes comfortable phlebotomy and in a professional manner at all times.
- To ensure equipment is in proper working order; skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation.
- To prepare written reports concerning laboratory test results and input data in the computer as required.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Enhance professional growth through education programs and in-services.
- Perform related work as required.
Physical Demands
- Requires standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Some bending stretching, lifting and stooping may be required.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient enough to operate office equipment including but not limited to telephone, keyboard, copier and fax machine.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
- Requires the ability to communicate with patients, office personnel and the community.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
