Tax Senior
Location: West Los Angeles, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 Days In Office
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our team in West Los Angeles. This position is ideal for a public accounting professional who has strong hands-on tax preparation experience and is comfortable independently managing complex tax assignments from start to finish.
The Tax Senior will work across a diverse client base and prepare and review a wide variety of federal, state, and local tax returns. This role offers exposure to complex tax matters, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to continue developing technical expertise within a collaborative public accounting environment.
This position offers a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations
- Manage tax engagements from initial document collection through final completion
- Analyze complex tax matters and accurately apply current federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Conduct tax research and recommend appropriate solutions when complex or unusual issues arise
- Identify missing information, inconsistencies, potential compliance concerns, and tax-saving opportunities
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain necessary documentation and resolve tax-related questions
- Prepare accurate and complete supporting workpapers, schedules, and tax documentation
- Independently manage multiple client assignments and competing deadlines, particularly during tax season
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Collaborate with managers, partners, and other team members to ensure high-quality client service
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of tax experience within a public accounting firm
- Active CPA license preferred, but not required
- Extensive hands-on experience preparing a broad range of tax returns
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to complete complex tax projects independently from start to finish
- Excellent analytical, tax research, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with professional tax preparation and accounting software
