Marching Band Color Guard Instructor (1) Brockton High School is seeking two creative, energetic, and dedicated Marching Band Color Guard Instructors to instruct and support the visual ensemble of the BHS Marching Band. These positions work collaboratively with the Marching Band Director, Assistant Director, and student leadership to develop performance excellence in movement, equipment, and visual design. Key Responsibilities Provide instruction for color guard students during: Summer band camp Afterschool rehearsals Football games and parades Teach and reinforce technique in: Flag, rifle, and other equipment (as applicable) Dance, movement, and body control Performance quality and ensemble consistency Create, teach, and refine color guard choreography that aligns with the marching bands show design. Lead and support student recruitment and retention by promoting the marching band program, collaborating with school staff, and engaging prospective students and families.
Collaborate with the directing staff to integrate visual elements with music and drill components. Support student leadership development within the color guard program. Assist with rehearsal preparation and organization, including: Preparing and organizing equipment Collaborating with student leaders Assisting with choreography documentation as needed Help manage and maintain color guard uniforms, equipment, and supplies. Coordinate color guard uniform fitting and distribution.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment for all students. Time Commitment Approximately 200-225 hours of work from June through November Approximately 10 additional hours per year for equipment management, uniform fitting, choreography support, and rehearsal preparation Preferred Qualifications Experience performing and teaching color guard in a marching band or similar ensemble Knowledge of equipment technique, choreography, and visual performance standards Ability to work collaboratively as part of a directing staff Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills Passion for mentoring and inspiring high school performers Stipend: $8,000
