About CITCO Water
CITCO Water provides comprehensive water and wastewater solutions to municipal and industrial customers across the eastern United States, including chemicals, smart metering technology, integrated systems, hardware, inventory management, and repair services. Guided by a commitment to doing right by our customers — “solutions driven, commitment given” — CITCO Water partners with utilities to modernize aging infrastructure through programs such as our Smart City initiative. As the exclusive distributor of Diehl Metering’s advanced ultrasonic water meters across our footprint, we help municipalities reduce non-revenue water, improve billing accuracy, and gain real-time visibility into their distribution systems.
Position Summary
CITCO Water is seeking a Water Meter Sales Specialist who already has an established book of business with municipalities in Ohio and/or Indiana. This is not an entry point into municipal water sales — we are looking for someone who currently maintains active relationships with municipal water/wastewater decision-makers in this territory and can lean on those existing accounts to generate near-term results. Working alongside our municipal sales representatives, you will drive rapid adoption of the Diehl Meter offering — including the Hydrus 2.0 ultrasonic meter line — by introducing it into the municipal accounts you already serve, with secondary coverage extending into Pennsylvania as those relationships develop.
Candidates without current, active municipal customer relationships in Ohio and/or Indiana are unlikely to be considered for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Introduce and sell the Diehl Meter offering directly into your existing book of municipal accounts across Ohio and/or Indiana, generating near-term closed business.
- Partner with CITCO Water’s municipal sales representatives to expand coverage of the assigned Ohio and Indiana territory, with additional support for growing opportunities in Pennsylvania.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on the Diehl Meter offering, including Hydrus 2.0 ultrasonic meters, AMI/AMR integration, leak detection, and non-revenue water reduction capabilities.
- Deliver product presentations, demonstrations, and technical walkthroughs to municipal engineers, water utility directors, and city officials.
- Support the development of proposals, quotes, specifications, and responses to municipal bids and RFPs.
- Maintain and deepen existing relationships with municipal water utility staff, consulting engineers, and other key stakeholders, while building new relationships across the territory.
- Represent CITCO Water and Diehl Metering at industry trade shows, conferences, and municipal/engineering association events.
- Collaborate with the broader Meter Team on order coordination, delivery timelines, and post-sale installation and training support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activity, opportunities, and customer interactions in the company CRM.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive offerings, and regulatory developments affecting municipal water metering.
Required Qualifications
- Existing, active relationships with municipal water/wastewater decision-makers in Ohio and/or Indiana, with a current book of business the candidate can bring to this role.
- A demonstrated track record of closing municipal accounts by leveraging existing customer relationships — this role requires near-immediate ability to generate business, not a territory built from scratch.
- Prior sales experience in the water/wastewater or municipal utility industry — experience selling meters, instrumentation, AMI/AMR systems, or related capital equipment strongly preferred.
- Comfort presenting technical product information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout Ohio and Indiana, and periodically into Pennsylvania, to visit customers, attend events, and support sales reps in the field.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ultrasonic or AMI/AMR metering technology and non-revenue water reduction concepts.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a multi-account territory with minimal daily supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency with CRM and Microsoft Office tools.
What CITCO Water Offers
- Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience, plus performance-based incentives.
- Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan).
- The opportunity to represent an industry-leading, exclusive ultrasonic metering technology in a growing market.
- A collaborative Meter Team environment with strong support from sales, operations, and technical staff.
- Room for professional growth within a company expanding its footprint and service offerings.
