Role Summary
The IT Projects Engineer is responsible for designing and executing technical projects, handling high-level escalations, and enforcing standards across client environments. This role is not reactive helpdesk work. It is focused on building, improving, and stabilizing client systems.
Key Responsibilities
Projects (Primary Focus)
- Lead deployment of new client environments (onboarding, migrations, standardization)
- Execute infrastructure projects: Firewalls, switches, wireless; Microsoft 365 migrations and configuration, Server and cloud migrations (Azure, hybrid)
- Document all implementations clearly and completely
- Coordinate with vCIO and Service teams to align projects with client roadmaps
- Own projects from planning through completion, including timelines and communication
Escalations (Secondary)
- Handle L3 escalations from Service Desk and NOC
- Troubleshoot complex issues across: Networking, Identity (Azure AD / Entra, AD), Security stack, Performance and stability issues
- Act as final technical authority when issues are unclear or unresolved
Accountability / KPIs
- Project delivery on time and within scope
- Project gross margin
- Minimal post-project issues or rework
- Escalation resolution time and quality
- Documentation completeness and accuracy
- Adherence to company standards across environments
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in IT, preferably in an MSP environment
- Microsoft 365 / Azure AD (Entra)
- Networking (VLANs, firewalls, routing, VPNs)
- Windows Server and virtualization
- Endpoint management and security tools
- Proven ability to execute projects independently
- Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple systems
- Preferred: Experience with PSA/RMM tools (e.g., ConnectWise), Exposure to security frameworks and tools (EDR, MDR, Zero Trust concepts), Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell)
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
