Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Project Manager / Estimator to support project planning, budgeting, and execution. This role is responsible for assisting in project coordination, preparing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management Support
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination and execution
- Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
- Maintain project documentation, including contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure alignment and progress
- Support job site activities and monitor field progress as needed
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids
- Assist in bid preparation and proposal development
- Review plans and specifications to identify risks, discrepancies, and value engineering opportunities
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Help monitor project budgets and cost controls
- Assist in preparing and tracking project forecasts and reports
- Support invoice processing and payment tracking
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project costs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred)
- 1–3 years of experience in construction estimating or project management (internships acceptable)
- Strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, and specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project)
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
- Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project)
- Knowledge of cost control and budgeting principles
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
Work Environment
- Combination of office and field work
- May require occasional travel to job sites
