Currently serving 1,400 students in prekindergarten-8th grade as part of Tennessee Public Charter School Commission (the Commission), CEG equips all students with the Wisdom and Knowledge necessary to succeed in college and to become leaders in their community. With more than a decade of charter school experience in Memphis, CEG provides a distinctive, quality public education to low-income families in Memphis’ Binghampton, Frayser, Parkway Village and surrounding communities. CEG’s structure, perspective, methods, and systems are based on successful urban schools around the country and includes:
- Intense focus on the core subjects: reading and math
- More time learning created by an extended school day
- Standards-based lesson plans, curriculum, and assessments
- Intentional character and leadership development
- Early dismissal on Fridays for planning and professional development
- Full behavior teams, counselors, a nurse and three academic coaches to support classroom teachers
- Opportunities for educators to have leadership roles in which they can lead and serve as grade chairs and master teachers

Job Expectations:
- Work with the Dean of Culture to design and implement outstanding school-wide behavior management plan to ensure all students achieve at high levels
- Support teachers by being the first responder to problems with students in the classroom
- Escort students to a classroom designed to help students make better decisions
- Assist in monitoring large student gatherings and transitions
- Monitor afterschool detention hall
- Effectively work with the behavior team to improve student behavior, executing individual behavior plans when needed
- Partner with parents in addressing social issues manifested in the classroom
- Work with the Dean of Culture to define appropriate consequences for student misconduct· Create a school culture of high academic performance and strong moral character· Work with students inside of classes and in pull-out rooms when needed· Continuously create and refine effective character development practices· Willingness to work in an extended day environment, staying late when needed with students who are awaiting their ride
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Experience working with urban children or families related to behavior, social work, or counseling
- Desire to model and teach wise decision-making to students
- Belief that there is not a more urgent task than to provide an outstanding education to students from low-income, urban backgrounds
- An unwavering conviction that all students can behave and achieve at high levels
- Commitment to do whatever it takes to prepare all students for college success
- Ability to work well in a team of high performers
- Willingness to be a team player and take on duties above and beyond those listed
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to have firm, loving, honest conversations with students and parents
- Belief in the need for consistent rewards, consequences and behavior systems across all classes and grades
