Touching Miami with Love is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving and empowering youth in the Overtown and West Homestead communities. With over 30 years of service, TML fosters positive change and creates opportunities for youth through programs focusing on education, social development, and personal growth.
Position Summary
The Educational Leader provides strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for all educational and youth development programming. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic enrichment, after-school, summer, literacy, and youth development programs that foster student achievement, personal growth, and positive youth outcomes. The Educational Leader develops curriculum, supervises instructional staff, monitors program quality, analyzes performance data, and implements continuous improvement strategies to ensure educational excellence across all programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Management
- Provide leadership and oversight for educational and youth development programs serving children and youth from kindergarten through 12th grade.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, objectives, and performance measures.
- Ensure programs align with organizational mission, strategic priorities, and funding requirements.
- Establish systems that promote program quality, consistency, and accountability.
- Monitor program performance and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
- Lead continuous quality improvement efforts based on data and stakeholder feedback.
Curriculum and Instruction
- Design, develop, and oversee curriculum and enrichment activities for K–12 students.
- Ensure instructional practices are engaging, culturally responsive, age-appropriate, and evidence-based.
- Oversee academic support services, literacy initiatives, STEM programming, workforce development, and college and career readiness activities.
- Integrate social-emotional learning, project-based learning, experiential learning, and technology-enhanced instruction into programming.
- Monitor lesson plans and instructional delivery to ensure quality implementation.
Staff Leadership and Professional Development
- Recruit, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate educational staff, instructors, and program coordinators.
- Conduct regular observations and provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities that strengthen instructional quality and youth engagement.
- Build a culture of collaboration, innovation, professionalism, and accountability.
- Support staff in classroom management, behavior intervention, and effective instructional practices.
Recruitment, Enrollment, and Retention
- Develop and implement participant recruitment strategies to ensure programs meet enrollment targets.
- Build strong relationships with schools, families, community organizations, faith-based institutions, and referral partners.
- Oversee outreach efforts, community presentations, recruitment events, and enrollment campaigns.
- Monitor enrollment, attendance, retention, and participation trends.
- Develop strategies to increase participant engagement and long-term program retention.
- Collaborate with staff to identify and remove barriers to participation.
- Ensure recruitment efforts reflect the organization's commitment to equity, accessibility, and community impact.
Student Achievement and Youth Development
- Promote academic success, positive behavior, leadership development, and social-emotional growth.
- Ensure programs create safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments.
- Develop strategies to increase student engagement, attendance, retention, and achievement.
- Support interventions for students requiring additional academic or behavioral support.
Data, Evaluation, and Compliance
- Collect, analyze, and interpret program data to measure effectiveness and outcomes.
- Prepare reports for leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance with grant requirements, educational standards, and organizational policies.
- Utilize data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for program improvement.
Family and Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, families, community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate and promote meaningful family engagement opportunities and initiatives that support student success.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, events, and collaborative partnerships.
- Collaborate with external partners to expand resources and opportunities for participants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Youth Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in educational programming, youth development, or school leadership.
- Demonstrated expertise in K–12 curriculum development and instructional practices.
- Experience supervising and coaching educational staff.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
- Experience using data to drive decision-making and program improvement.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to move throughout program sites and classrooms.
- Ability to facilitate trainings, meetings, and community events.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Pay: $62,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
