Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs, document medical information accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and report changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Administer medications and treatments following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Support patients with specialized needs including dementia, Alzheimer's, behavioral health challenges, or developmental disabilities through tailored care strategies.
- Facilitate safe patient transfers utilizing appropriate transfer methods and ensure compliance with safe lifting practices during movement.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following aseptic techniques, infection control procedures, and proper medical documentation standards.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living communities, or home care environments to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification or equivalent licensure required; experience working with geriatric patients preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
- Prior experience in critical care areas including ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I & II), or surgical units is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of specialized care practices such as hospice, memory care (including dementia), pediatric or behavioral health is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and execute manual handling techniques; CPR certification required or willing to obtain upon hire.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work compassionately with individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
