CNC Mill Operator – Steel Plate, LLC

Position Summary:
The CNC Mill Operator is responsible for the setup, programming, operation, and maintenance of CNC equipment—specifically an open vertical mill. This role is hands-on and ideal for someone experienced in machining, blueprint reading, and precision work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, operate, and maintain CNC vertical mills from detailed blueprints.
- Perform various machining operations such as milling, drilling, reaming, punching, and boring to meet precise tolerances.
- Install correct tools and fixtures according to operational requirements.
- Select and adjust operation sequences, tools, feeds, and speeds.
- Edit programs as needed for accuracy and efficiency.
- Devise or modify tools and fixtures for custom operations.
- Conduct quality control checks using standard inspection tools.
- Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.
Shift Hours:
- First Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Second Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
- Overtime available as required.
Qualifications:
- 1 to 3 years of CNC Mill operating experience (sheet metal environment preferred).
- Ability to edit programs and operate CNC vertical mill using detailed blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in blueprint reading.
- Haas VF9 knowledge.
- Capable of operating lift trucks, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
- Solid knowledge of tools, clamping, and basic safety protocols.
- Effective communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or additional experience preferred.
Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (60+ minutes).
- Repetitive movements such as bending and squatting.
- Exposure to a typical manufacturing environment: loud noise, moving machinery, temperature variations, and airborne particles.
