About the Role
Carriere Family Farms is hiring an experienced Level 2 Mechanic to join our Maintenance team! In this role, you'll work independently to troubleshoot and repair a variety of mechanical equipment, while building your electrical and controls skills. This is a great opportunity for a mechanic ready to take on more complex, hands-on challenges in a fast-paced food processing environment.
What You'll Do
- Independently troubleshoot mechanical equipment, including conveyors, motors, and gearboxes
- Replace and align bearings, shafts, couplings, and other components
- Diagnose mechanical failures and identify root causes
- Assist with minor electrical troubleshooting (480V, 120V, 240V) and basic control wiring
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including pre-harvest prep
- Manage work orders and maintenance records using CMMS
- Maintain tool and equipment inventory
- Follow all safety, LOTO, confined space, and food safety/GMP protocols
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (required)
- Basic electrical knowledge (motors, VFDs, sensors, PLC basics)
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints
- Welding experience (MIG, TIG, ARC) preferred
- Experience with nut processing equipment a plus (graders, laser optic sorters, bagging lines, palletizers)
- Forklift and aerial lift certification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
Physical Requirements
Regular standing, walking, and stair climbing; occasional stooping/kneeling/crouching; frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, occasional lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, temperature extremes, and loud noise. Availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Pay: $28.50 - $36.00 per hour
