Speech Pathologist

MacDowell Preparatory Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated curriculum, teaching life skills and nurturing Speech Pathologist for the 2026-27 school year who can provide individualized and focused emotional intelligence through a supportive instruction that allows each student to achieve academic excellence and social responsibility.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments, designing tailored therapeutic interventions in alignment with individual education plans.
2. Collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective speech and language programs.
3. Participate actively in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and contribute to the formulation of IEP goals.
4. Deliver individualized therapy sessions to address students’ communication goals.
5. Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes and reports according to organizational standards.
6. Foster collaboration among stakeholders to optimize speech and language therapy services in both home and school environments.
7. Manage scheduling of therapy sessions while accommodating professional commitments and IEP meetings.
8. Provide professional recommendations and facilitate workshops to enhance educational environments.
9. Attend staff meetings and stay informed about developments in the field of speech language pathology.
10. Conduct audiological screenings and make referrals as needed.
11. Pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance professional growth.
**Requirements:**
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology required
- Current licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in Michigan.
- Eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
- A minimum one year previous work experience as a Speech Language Pathologist or completed at least one pediatric internship is preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development stages is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with special education regulations and requirements.
- Proficiency in managing and treating children with disabilities.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility to manage varying caseloads and schedules.
