Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Oral Surgery Surgical Assistant to join our growing practice. This position will begin on a part-time basis and transition into a full-time role as the practice expands. The ideal candidate is professional, team-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
Experience in oral surgery is preferred; however, we welcome motivated candidates with dental assisting experience who demonstrate a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms for surgical procedures
- Assist the surgeon during oral surgery procedures, including:
- Dental implant placement
- Wisdom tooth extractions
- Bone grafting procedures
- Exposure and bonding
- Facial trauma procedures
- Monitor and document vital signs
- Assist with IV sedation procedures (training provided if needed)
- Assist with patient monitoring and recovery following IV sedation procedures
- Prepare and sterilize instruments
- Maintain surgical equipment and operatories in a clean, organized, and procedure-ready condition
- Take digital radiographs and CBCT scans
- Provide post-operative instructions to patients and families
Patient Care
- Greet and escort patients
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment
- Review medical histories and consent forms
- Answer patient questions and provide support throughout treatment
Practice Operations
- Maintain inventory and supplies
- Assist with ordering and stocking materials
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, infection control, and HIPAA standards
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- NJ Radiology License
- Current BLS Certification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Team-oriented mindset
Preferred
- Oral surgery or dental assisting experience
- Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)
- Experience assisting with IV sedation
- Phlebotomy Certification
