Job Type/Duration: 12-month Contract to start (Extension Possible)
Salary Range: $30 - $40/hr. (DOE)
Summary: Experienced Lab Analyst to support refinery laboratory operations on a 12-month contract. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong experience in wet chemistry, GC analysis, and petroleum product testing.
Roles and Responsibilities
· Perform quality control testing using wet chemistry and instrumentation.
· Assist with preparations of analytical standards, reagents, and solutions.
· Perform corrosion testing, GC Analysis – will do physical testing and train on analytical testing
· Perform routine instrument maintenance procedures
· Analyze data and report results in a concise and accurate manner
· Perform GC analysis on refinery liquid and gas products
· Test and certify jet fuel, diesel, & gasoline component blends
· Verify and report results to units in the refinery
· Calibrate and standardized lab instruments daily
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Required Skills:
- 5 - 7 years of work experience in direct related role as a Lab Analyst/Chemist
- Must have Laboratory analysis experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in performing GC analysis on refinery gas and liquid products.
- 5+ years’ experience in testing and certifying gasoline blends & jet fuel.
- Familiar with ASTM test methods and procedures
- Knowledge of how to calibrate and standardize lab instruments daily.
- Ability to provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance with instruments.
- Ability to supply feedback to supervisors, lab manager and/or other refinery employees about analysis.
- Plan and execute laboratory work independently and in teamwork environment.
- Coordinate, analyze, and monitor testing of unit samples according to quality standards and SOP’s
- Assist with outside analysis samples.
- Resolve complex problems within specified parameters.
- Ensure compliance with incoming and outgoing products and materials
- Perform calibrations, inspections, and routine lab maintenance
- Communicate and provide support to management, on/off site personnel, and customers
- Prioritize and multitask in team and individual settings.
- Knowledge in GC, VUV-GC, Octanes, ICP, Titrators, Sulfur Analyzers, LIMS, and Microsoft office
Desired Skills:
- Refinery Lab Experience or experience with a Service Company Lab.
Work Schedule: Shift Rotation - Days/Nights/Weekends/Holidays/Relief (10-12HR Shift)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other science related field is preferred
- HS Diploma/GED required with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $30 – $40 per hour; however, the salary offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This salary information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location
