Job Summary
Within the Mission and Strategic Plan established for Friendship Industries, Inc. and Able Solutions, Inc., the Production Coordinator and Safety Assistant is responsible for producing a product equal to, or better than, the expectations of our customers. In addition, the Production Coordinator and Safety Assistant is responsible for providing coverage by stepping into the Production Coordinator role when needed or when requested by management and for providing designated onsite assistance with workplace emergencies and workplace injuries and safety incidents, including initial response, notification, documentation, and required reporting.
The Safety Assistant responsibilities of this position are limited to workplace emergencies, basic first aid and workplace injury and safety incident response and related workplace injury reporting and documentation. This position does not assume the broader safety, quality, inspection, compliance, training, or safety-program responsibilities of the Safety & Quality Technician.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties
Production
When assigned to step up into the Production Coordinator role, the employee will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for reviewing specific work in process on the production floor for efficiency, suggesting ways in which they can be improved to maximize quality, performance and profit. Communicate this effectively to the Customer Service Manager or other designee.

Must become proficient in the set-up and operating procedures for equipment used in the area or other as the Customer Service Manager deems necessary.

Monitor production output and adjust accordingly to customer demand as communicated by Customer Service Manager.

Effectively schedule preassembly work projects based on current sales projections.
Supervision
-
Must have leadership skills and show effective delegating abilities while collaborating with Team Members.
-
Have the ability to guide and motivate associates with special needs to focus and maintain production goals.
-
Train and help Team Members as necessary, asking for training assistance as needed. Cooperate in all Employment Services functions providing input and feedback.

Track attendance, monitor and adjust staffing based on work accommodations and/or production needs as necessary.
Administrative
-
Accurately complete all needed production paperwork in a timely manner.

Provide reports or summaries as needed by the Customer Service Manager.

Receive incoming materials and shipments for processing into inventory.
-
Pack and ship orders as needed and maintain records.
-
Must obtain familiarity and proficiency with systems necessary to complete tasks.

Complete daily cleaning and maintenance logs as needed upon completion.
Quality and Safety
-
Monitor Team Members’ quality on assigned jobs. Find solutions to quality problems to ensure continuous improvement.

Check incoming and outgoing shipments for correct counts and documentation accuracy. Maintain a policy of no returns for errors in paperwork accuracy or quantitative errors.

Perform all work in accordance with applicable safety regulations.
Safety Assistant – Workplace Injury and Incident Response

Respond to workplace injuries and safety incidents occurring onsite.
-
Provide immediate assistance to employees involved in a workplace injury, incident or personal illness, within the scope of the employee’s training and established company procedures.
-
Notify the appropriate supervisor, manager, and/or Safety/Quality personnel of workplace injuries and safety incidents.
-
Complete and/or assist with required workplace injury and incident documentation.
-
Initiate and/or assist with the workers’ compensation through the Company Nurse reporting process for work-related injuries.
-
Assist employees with understanding the immediate steps required following a workplace injury, including obtaining appropriate medical attention when necessary.

Gather information necessary for completion incident reports and coordinate involvement with a member of the Safety and Quality Team.

Maintain confidentiality of employee and injury-related information.
-
Follow up as directed to ensure required documentation has been completed and submitted.

Immediately escalate serious injuries or incidents requiring emergency response or management attention.

Perform these Safety Assistant responsibilities in accordance with established company procedures and applicable requirements.
The Safety Assistant responsibilities of this position are limited to onsite emergency response, assistance, notification, documentation, and reporting related to workplace injuries and incidents. This position does not assume the broader safety, quality, inspection, training, compliance, or safety-program responsibilities of the Safety & Quality Technician.
Communication and Collaboration

Must be able to work effectively with any size team, or alone with minimal supervision.

Participate in meetings as required, providing information and input as needed.

Be an integral part of the solution process in determining scheduling and production.

Review production on a daily basis with Customer Service Manager when serving in the Production Coordinator role. Set daily priorities accordingly.
Education
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
Experience

Minimum 1-year Production Experience.

Computer literacy and ability to work in Microsoft Applications.
Essential Functions

Can be an irregular schedule which may include weekend and holiday work schedules.

Strong math, reading and writing skills.

Acute attention to details and strong ability to multi-task.

Able to stand, bend, and twist throughout shift.
