Duties
- Manage the preparation and review of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end closing processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and accounts reconciliation using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal controls, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills—formulas, VLOOKUP functions, data analysis—to interpret financial data, identify discrepancies, and support audit readiness.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems and automation tools like Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, and HRIS platforms for payroll and benefits administration.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Support external audits by preparing documentation and ensuring all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Experience
- Proven accounting experience with a strong foundation in double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger management.
- Extensive knowledge of financial concepts including accounts payable/receivable management, payroll processing, tax compliance, and corporate accounting practices.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; familiarity with financial systems like UltiPro or Kronos is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to perform Excel data analysis using formulas and functions such as VLOOKUP for accurate reporting.
- Background in public accounting or corporate finance roles with exposure to governmental or non-profit accounting preferred.
- Strong analysis skills for account reconciliation and journal entry preparation; experience with accounts payable automation is advantageous.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
