Duties
- Conduct thorough client assessments utilizing DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding standards to determine substance use severity and co-occurring disorders
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing
- Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management strategies to ensure client safety during acute episodes
- Develop, implement, and monitor personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards and medical documentation protocols
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR) using EMR systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support clients’ mental health and behavioral care needs, including PTSD care and working with diverse cultural backgrounds
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in clinical or community settings
- Strong background in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and client communication skills
- Familiarity with crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral health strategies for diverse populations
- Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation processes, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and DSM-5 diagnostic standards
- Proficiency in medical records management using electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
- Ability to perform comprehensive client assessments including intake procedures, mental health evaluations, and behavioral management plans
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, research utilization, and continuous professional development in addiction medicine and mental health counseling
