Why this role
We’re a small team supporting critical equipment at the Malta, NY GlobalFoundries semiconductor site. This is a hands-on, on-site engineering job where you’ll be involved in day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and supporting expansion projects. You’ll build practical field experience that’s valuable across the semiconductor industry.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support daily operation of gas abatement scrubbers and related systems (mechanical, electrical, controls, utilities).
- Help with new tool installs and ramp activities (coordination, commissioning, setup, parts readiness).
- Perform and improve preventive maintenance (PM). Troubleshoot when issues happen.
- Keep records: work logs, PM history, parts used, issues, and action items.
- Track equipment status and report priorities or downtime trends.
- Work with internal/global engineering teams to communicate field issues and support improvements.
- Attend customer meetings and provide updates.
- Support and guide technicians.
Skills and Qualifications
- In compliance with OSHA regulations, candidates with facial hair must be able to shave around the area where a respiratory mask seals.
- Must be available to work on-call if needed.
- Comfortable working on-site in a semiconductor environment with PPE.
- Able to wear a respirator with no restrictions (must pass medical clearance and fit test).
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail.
- Basic Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills.
- Willing to learn how to read mechanical/electrical drawings.
- Flexible schedule when needed to support manufacturing.
- Comfortable using hand tools and test equipment.
- Able to pass required background and drug screening.
Nice to have
- Korean and English bilingual (big plus).
- Semiconductor equipment or facilities experience.
Work Environment
- Fully on-site in a semiconductor fab environment. PPE and respirator use are normal.
- Hands-on work: standing, walking, bending, working around industrial equipment.
- On-call or after-hours support may be required depending on site needs.
Education
- Engineering degree (Mechanical/Electrical) or strong hands-on technical experience.
