Job Summary
Watkins Tavern is looking for a lunch cook (Thursday-Sunday), with potential to become full time through additional hours in the evenings. The ideal candidate has kitchen experience in all aspects, works well with others as well as on their own, has their Servsafe certification, and enjoys creating meals.
This position requires experience and the ability to run a small kitchen on your own during lunch. If it gets busy enough to require help, we will hire accordingly. At this time lunch service is a one-person position.
While this position starts as part-time, for the right candidate we can work to get them to become a core full-time employee.
Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Assist in the training of new staff members in food handling and preparation techniques.
- Collaborate with the chef to ensure timely service of meals.
- Help manage inventory of kitchen supplies and ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality.
- Provide exceptional customer service during meal service, including catering events.
- Utilize knife skills for precise food preparation and presentation.
- Contribute to a positive dining experience through attention to detail in meal presentation.
Experience
- Previous experience in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is preferred.
- Strong background in food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Experience in restaurant environments is highly valued.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
- Culinary experience with an emphasis on meal preparation and catering services is beneficial.
