Compensation: $140,000 - $180,000
The Role
We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Tax with specialized expertise in Partnership and Real Estate taxation to serve as a senior leader within our firm. In this high-impact role, you will manage complex pass-through entity engagements and deliver strategic tax planning and advisory services to a sophisticated client base of real estate investors, developers, operators, and partnership structures. Working collaboratively with Partners, you will lead the delivery of technically sound, value-added tax solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Pass-Through Compliance & Review: Oversee and review complex federal and state partnership and LLC tax returns (Form 1065) for clients across real estate, private equity, investment, and operating businesses.
Real Estate Tax Strategy: Lead advanced real estate engagements, including cost segregation studies, Section 1031 structured exchanges, depreciation analysis, and passive activity loss (PAL) planning.
Structural Advisory: Advise clients on partnership design, capital account maintenance (Section 704(b)), tax basis calculations, and complex special allocations.
Transactional Consulting: Provide proactive tax planning related to real estate acquisitions, dispositions, debt refinancing, and large-scale development activities.
Client & Team Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for real estate and partnership accounts. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate tax staff and seniors through effective delegation and meaningful coaching.
External Collaboration: Coordinate directly with attorneys, lenders, and outside financial advisors on transactional planning matters.
Technical Research & Growth: Research complex developments in partnership and real estate tax law (Subchapter K, REIT regulations). Support business development through client outreach, presentations, and active industry involvement.
Requirements
Experience: 8+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a heavy, demonstrable focus on partnership and/or real estate taxation.
Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; active CPA license required.
Software & Technical Skills: Proficiency with advanced tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, BNA/Bloomberg Tax). In-depth knowledge of Subchapter K, real estate tax rules, and passive activity regulations.
Attributes: Exceptional analytical, research, and written communication skills with a proven track record of managing multiple complex client relationships simultaneously.
