Healthcare Staffing Professionals, Inc is looking for Physical Therapists to fill this position working in a correctional facility located in Lawrenceville, VA. This role requires a professional who can navigate the unique challenges of a correctional environment while delivering high-quality, ethical, and compassionate care to the inmate population.
Pay Rate: $60/hr
Shift: 8am-4:30pm
Job Duties:
- Assess and evaluate the physical therapy needs of inmates using appropriate tests and diagnostic procedures.
- Develop individualized treatment plans aimed at improving, maintaining, or restoring physical functioning, alleviating pain, and preventing physical dysfunction in patients.
- Implement therapeutic interventions such as therapeutic exercise, manual therapy techniques, and education on posture and body mechanics.
- Monitor and document patient progress in response to therapy interventions, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with other medical, psychiatric, and correctional staff to ensure comprehensive care that addresses all aspects of an inmate's health.
- Educate patients on techniques for prevention of injury and methods of achieving a healthier lifestyle within the constraints of the correctional environment.
- Comply with all facility policies and procedures, including safety, security, and confidentiality standards.
- Provide guidance and supervision to physical therapy assistants and aides.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state license to practice physical therapy.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in physical therapy, with preference given to experience in high-stress environments or with underserved populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, correctional staff, and medical professionals.
- Ability to handle a full caseload and deliver effective treatment within the structured environment of a correctional facility.
- Knowledge of and experience with diverse therapeutic techniques and interventions.
