Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Metallurgist to join our mining and mineral processing operation in Gouverneur, New York. In this role, you will support milling operations through quality assurance, process monitoring, metallurgical testing, and data analysis. You will work closely with plant operators, laboratory technicians, and maintenance personnel to improve production efficiency, optimize recoveries, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) activities for the assay laboratory and mill operations.
- Monitor milling performance and recommend process improvements to maximize production and recovery.
- Investigate and troubleshoot operational and metallurgical issues.
- Provide technical support to operators, millwrights, and laboratory personnel.
- Conduct metallurgical testing on new ore bodies, reagents, and process chemicals.
- Maintain assay laboratory chemical inventory and ensure laboratory readiness.
- Design, coordinate, and supervise plant sampling programs.
- Analyze operational and laboratory data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Prepare daily metallurgical and production reports.
- Follow all company safety, environmental, quality, and operational procedures.
- Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging metallurgical technologies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in mineral processing, metallurgy, or a similar industrial environment.
- Knowledge of mineral processing methods including flotation, gravity separation, and magnetic separation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a mining or mineral processing plant.
- Familiarity with metallurgical laboratory procedures and assay operations.
- Knowledge of continuous process improvement methodologies.
