Lead Landscape Groundskeeper
· Lead daily gardening, landscaping, and groundskeeping work across Rain Dance Ranch while keeping all property areas clean, safe, attractive, and well maintained.
- Plan, prioritize, and complete hands-on landscape and garden work, including vegetable and flower gardening, weeding, watering, planting, pruning, mulching, mowing, edging, irrigation checks, debris removal, and seasonal cleanup.
- Direct and work alongside other grounds staff or helpers to complete daily priorities, assign tasks, monitor quality, and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
- Maintain vegetable gardens, flower gardens, flower beds, lawns, patios, fence lines, driveways, roadways, barns, and visible field edges to a high standard of appearance, productivity, and safety.
- Identify landscape needs and recommend improvements, including plant care, bed maintenance, irrigation adjustments, erosion control, seasonal planting, and overall property presentation.
- Support future gardening, landscaping, and property improvement projects as they are identified, including planning, preparation, hands-on work, and directing others as needed.
- Operate and help maintain ranch landscape equipment, including mowers, tractors, gators, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, irrigation tools, and powered hand tools; keep equipment clean and orderly after use.
- Report equipment, irrigation, fence, drainage, plant health, or safety issues to owners or the Maintenance Manager, and handle basic repairs or adjustments when appropriate.
· Lead daily landscape walkthroughs to identify priorities, safety concerns, irrigation needs, debris, weeds, damaged plants, and areas needing attention.
· Maintain vegetable gardens, flower gardens, lawns, flower beds, planted areas, patios, dog run areas, fence lines, and visible field edges through mowing, trimming, edging, raking, pruning, watering, weeding, harvesting support, and cleanup.
· Water vegetable gardens, flower gardens, trees, shrubs, lawns, and planted areas as needed; monitor plant health and proactively address weeds, pests, dry spots, overgrowth, and seasonal care needs.
· Keep lawns cut and maintained; inspect irrigation systems regularly, address basic irrigation issues when appropriate, and request assistance from the Maintenance Manager for larger repairs.
· Assign work to team members or helpers, provide clear direction, demonstrate proper techniques, check completed work, and ensure daily priorities are completed.
· Remove garbage, debris, fallen limbs, leaves, cones, rocks, and other hazards from roads, driveways, lawns, barns, fields, fences, and landscaped areas based on priority and visibility.
· Support animal-area cleanliness when needed, including coordinating with the Llama Manager to keep shared grounds, fields, and barn-adjacent areas safe and orderly.
· Ensure fences, gates, paths, patios, and landscape features remain in working order and visually presentable; communicate repair needs promptly.
· Keep bug traps and other outdoor maintenance items working, stocked, and appropriately placed.
· Assist owners, the Llama Manager, and the Maintenance Manager as needed while keeping the landscape and groundskeeping work on track.
· Participate in future landscape, garden, and grounds improvement projects as they arise, including preparing areas, sourcing materials as directed, completing the work, and coordinating helpers.
· Other duties as needed. Schedule is Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week.
Requirements:
- Degree in horticulture or related.
· At least 2 years of proven experience in gardening, landscaping, groundskeeping, ranch/property maintenance, or a similar outdoor role.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
· Ability to safely operate and maintain landscape and groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, tractors, gators, chainsaws, irrigation tools, and powered hand tools.
· Working knowledge of plants, soil, watering needs, pruning, weed control, seasonal garden care, lawn care, and basic irrigation troubleshooting.
· Ability to lead by example, give clear direction, work well with others, and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
· Comfortable planning daily work, prioritizing tasks, directing helpers, and checking work for quality and completion.
- Solid understanding of health and safety rules and legislation.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
