Qualifications & Experience:
- Current COMS certification through ACVREP
- Active Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certification
- Proven experience working with visually impaired (VI) students across grades 2 through high school
- Flexibility to adapt strategies for various ages and ability levels
- Strong communication and collaborative skills for working within school teams and diverse educational environments
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing individualized orientation and mobility training to students with visual impairments, supporting their academic and life goals as outlined in their IEPs
- Assessing student abilities, recommending adaptive devices and strategies, and implementing appropriate mobility instruction
- Creating a flexible schedule aligned with both O&M best practices and student IEP requirements, ensuring all student needs are met across various sites
- Documenting student progress, participating in IEP meetings, and providing input for annual reviews
- Serving as a resource for school staff and families regarding best practices in orientation and mobility for VI students
