Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate CERTIFIED Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. You will work closely with veterinarians and other staff members to ensure the health and well-being of animals in our care. This position requires a strong understanding of veterinary practices, animal physiology, and excellent handling skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal patients’ vital signs and overall health status.
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals, including feeding and administering fluids.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
- Handle animals safely and effectively during examinations and procedures.
Skills
Candidates should possess a combination of the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy.
- Experience in animal handling, including dog handling techniques.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Understanding of dental terminology related to animal care.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry principles.
- Experience with animal catheterization and restraint methods.
- Ability to perform X-ray imaging as needed.
- Background in equine experience is a plus.
