Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, ensuring timely communication with healthcare teams.
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals, assist with feeding when necessary, and maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties.
- Support residents with memory care needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia by implementing specialized care strategies and engaging them in meaningful activities.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards and facility policies.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings, ensuring safety at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in condition or behavior promptly.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, autism support, intellectual disabilities support, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Ability to perform patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and first aid/CPR certification.
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs using manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation of care plans.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
