Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with a strong background in defense litigation to support attorneys through all phases of the litigation process. The ideal candidate will have true hands-on paralegal experience managing a high-volume caseload, independently driving cases forward, and coordinating with attorneys, clients, experts, courts, and opposing counsel. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of state and federal court procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support a busy defense litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
- Draft and prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, motions, orders, subpoenas, and other litigation-related documents.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate extensive discovery, including drafting responses, organizing productions, and tracking deadlines.
- Conduct medical records review and develop detailed medical summaries and chronologies.
- Prepare deposition summaries and assist attorneys with deposition and trial preparation.
- Handle electronic filing (e-filing) in both state and federal courts.
- Maintain and manage court calendars, litigation deadlines, scheduling orders, and case management requirements.
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and other litigation events.
- Prepare and issue subpoenas and manage follow-up for records and document production.
- Coordinate expert retention, communications, scheduling, and document management.
- Obtain, review, and organize medical records, billing records, and other case-related documentation.
- Communicate regularly with attorneys, clients, court personnel, experts, and opposing counsel to ensure efficient case progression.
- Assist with trial preparation, exhibit management, witness coordination, and courtroom support as needed.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all court rules, deadlines, and filing requirements.
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience; defense litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing cases independently and driving litigation matters forward.
- Extensive experience with discovery, medical chronologies, deposition summaries, e-filing, scheduling, and subpoena preparation.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court procedures and deadlines.
- Experience coordinating experts and handling medical records review.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
- Insurance defense, personal injury defense, medical malpractice defense, or general civil defense litigation.
- Trial preparation and courtroom support.
- Experience working directly with attorneys to develop case strategy and manage litigation workflow.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
