An expanding and reputable heavy civil contractor is embarking on a significant project for roadways and utilities in the Hickory, NC region. They are seeking a night-shift Superintendent to oversee the entire operation. If you have experience in highway construction, earthmoving, and pipe installation, this is the perfect job for you. You will be responsible for supervising grade levels, production, and crews during night shifts. The company supports its employees and ensures a steady stream of projects.
This role requires strong leadership and autonomy in leading the field.
- Lead field planning and execution for earthwork, highways, utilities, and excavation.
- Manage crews, equipment, and subcontractors to meet deadlines and stay within budget.
- Interpret plans, establish grades, ensure survey accuracy, and maintain production efficiency.
- Control labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Ensure a safe work environment during night operations, manage job-site logistics, and maintain cost controls.
- Lead by example by actively participating in project tasks alongside the crew.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing field crews in civil or highway construction.
- Proficient in earthwork, grading, roadway, and underground utilities.
- Ability to interpret CPM schedules, plans, and specifications for daily work planning.
- OSHA 30 certification required (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to work night shifts, including weekends, and travel as needed for projects.
- Starting salary of $130,000–$160,000 commensurate with experience.
