Under general supervision, administers respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities. Trains and acts as a resource for other respiratory department staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Establish priorities to organize work and utilize time effectively
· Assesses patients and recommends respiratory therapy treatments
· Plans, prepares and administers respiratory therapy treatments, aerosol, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, and sputum inductions, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
· Performs diagnostic pulmonary and cardiac test and records patient treatment, response, and progress.
· Inspects, tests, maintains and operates respiratory therapy equipment.
· Responds to “code blue” calls and assists by maintaining the patient’s airway and performing CPR.
· Attend mandatory meetings
· Attend appropriate in-service education
· Comply what the attendance and punctuality policy
· Maintain courtesy at all times to patients, families, and visitors.
· Complies with all safety rules applying to gas cylinders, ventilators, and all electrical equipment.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED required
Completion of an A.S. program from a nationally accredited respiratory therapy school
Must be NBRC Registered
BLS/CPR certified
Georgia RCP License
Must have current PALS and ACLS
