Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a love for discovery. Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in math and science for 5th-grade students
- Deliver engaging lessons that incorporate hands-on activities, technology, and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior guidance strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary projects, and school-wide initiatives
- Provide mentorship and support to students with special education needs or those requiring early intervention services
- Incorporate literacy education techniques into science and math instruction to enhance reading comprehension and writing skills
- Use learning technology tools to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and upcoming assessments
- Support school activities such as tutoring sessions, library services, or extracurricular programs related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Skills
- Proven classroom management skills that promote a respectful, inclusive learning environment
- Strong knowledge of math concepts appropriate for 5th grade as well as science curriculum standards
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, staff, and administration
- Experience in curriculum development tailored to elementary education standards including Montessori or other specialized approaches
- Ability to incorporate learning technology effectively into daily lessons
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and data analysis for student assessment
- Skills in tutoring or working with children with autism or other special needs to support individualized learning plans
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development best practices
- Competence in behavior management techniques to address diverse student behaviors positively
- Writing skills necessary for lesson planning, report writing, and professional documentation
