POSITION SUMMARY
The Overnight Security Officer is responsible for the safety, security, and well-being of guests, team members, and the property during overnight hours. This role is highly independent and requires sound judgment, calm professionalism, and a genuine commitment to guest service. The ideal candidate is proactive, observant, dependable, and capable of managing a broad range of situations with composure and care.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols of the property, including guestroom corridors, public areas, parking areas, and building perimeter
- Serve as an additional overnight front-of-house contact, responding to guest inquiries, concerns, and service requests with professionalism
- Monitor and control access to the property, verifying guest and visitor identification as appropriate
- Observe and report any suspicious activity, safety hazards, or maintenance issues to the appropriate parties, maintaining accurate and detailed logs of all overnight incidents, patrols, and notable occurrences
- Respond promptly to emergency situations including medical incidents, fire alarms, and disturbances; coordinate with emergency services as needed
- Enforce hotel policies and local regulations in a respectful and professional manner
- Secure and lock designated areas of the property according to overnight procedures
- Assist with night audit and front desk operations as directed
- Coordinate with on-call management for situations requiring escalation to complete incident reports
- Provide a visible, reassuring presence throughout the property during overnight hours
- Follow all safety, OSHA, and hotel emergency procedures
REQUIREMENT > QUALIFICATION
Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience > Hotel, hospitality, or customer-facing security experience preferred
Strong observational and situational awareness skills > Demonstrated ability to assess and respond calmly to developing situations
Reliable, consistent overnight availability > Ability to work overnight shifts including weekends and holidays
Effective written and verbal communication > Ability to complete accurate incident reports and communicate clearly with guests and management
Consistent attendance and punctuality > Demonstrated work history; reliable means of transportation, personal or public
Physical ability to conduct property patrols > Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs throughout a full overnight shift
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent lifting (up to 75 lbs), working at heights, confined spaces, and in variable weather conditions.
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
