Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. You will be responsible for assisting with various tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the well-being of our patients while delivering exceptional customer service to pet owners.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary tools and equipment are prepared and available.
- Provide front desk support, including greeting clients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
- Monitor animal health by observing behavior and physical condition, reporting any changes to the veterinary staff.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian or technician.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and laboratory areas.
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as collecting samples and performing basic tests.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including nutrition, grooming, and preventive health measures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary terminology to effectively communicate with the team.
Experience
Ideal candidates will have experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- Front desk operations within a veterinary or medical setting.
- Veterinary critical care procedures and protocols.
- Understanding of animal anatomy and physiology to assist in diagnostics and treatment plans.
- Familiarity with animal husbandry practices to ensure optimal care for all animals in the clinic.
- Experience in pet care settings such as kennels or shelters is a plus.
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology to facilitate communication among staff members.
