Position Summary
The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting material availability, and coordinating inventory activity across warehouses, distribution centers, and field locations. This position monitors inventory transactions, investigates discrepancies, processes adjustments, and works with purchasing, warehouse operations, sales, and accounting to resolve inventory-related issues.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with inventory systems and spreadsheets, and able to identify problems before they affect customers or operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor inventory levels, availability, and movement across multiple locations.
- Review inventory transactions for accuracy, including receipts, transfers, issues, returns, and adjustments.
- Coordinate cycle counts and assist with physical inventory counts.
- Research inventory discrepancies and work with warehouse personnel to determine root causes.
- Process approved inventory adjustments and maintain supporting documentation.
- Monitor open purchase orders, sales orders, transfers, and material withdrawals that may affect inventory accuracy.
- Identify shortages, excess inventory, aging inventory, and potential stockout risks.
- Coordinate inventory transfers and replenishment between locations.
- Confirm that items are assigned to the correct warehouse, stocking location, and inventory status.
- Maintain accurate item information, including part numbers, descriptions, units of measure, and stocking locations.
- Assist with discontinued, damaged, returned, or obsolete inventory.
- Prepare recurring inventory reports and communicate significant issues to management.
- Support inventory audits by gathering reports, transaction history, and supporting documentation.
- Work with purchasing, sales, accounting, warehouse operations, and field teams to resolve inventory issues.
- Follow established inventory-control procedures and recommend process improvements.
- Assist with documenting inventory procedures and training employees on inventory processes.
- Perform other inventory and operational duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, purchasing, order management, or a related field.
- Experience using an inventory management, warehouse management, or ERP system.
- Basic data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through resolution.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in supply chain, business, logistics, accounting, or a related field.
- Experience supporting inventory across multiple warehouses or branches.
- Experience with Fishbowl or a comparable inventory-management system.
- Experience coordinating cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Familiarity with purchasing, receiving, replenishment, and order-fulfillment processes.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup formulas.
- Experience in flooring, building materials, manufacturing, distribution, or home improvement.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to walk the warehouse or inventory-storage areas.
- Ability to lift up to [25/50] pounds when assisting with physical inventory counts.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
