American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and the ability to float across multiple regional facilities.

Work in a 43-bed Emergency Department at a 337-bed hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation (no trauma designation, non-teaching)
-
Patient population spans pediatric to geriatric, with common presentations including respiratory illness, stroke, behavioral health, acute MI, uncontrolled diabetes, and minor and major trauma stabilization for transfer

8 Clinical Decision beds designated for Behavioral Health (unlocked) and 4 additional beds used for admissions or patient holding

Average daily census of approximately 145 patients with a 25-30% admission rate

RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 based on acuity
-
12-hour night shifts beginning at 1700, with 36 standard hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Floating is required across Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED within the region, and Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates unwilling to float should not apply

EMR: Epic (experience required)

Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Rover Communication, Panda Infant Warmer, and LUCAS device

No on-call or call-back requirements

Active RN license — NC or compact license required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI

TNCC preferred

Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
General ED skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation

Must provide at least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Robust departmental support includes HCTs/Unit Secretaries (1:8-10 ratio), paramedics, a free-floating charge nurse, patient safety attendants, a dedicated ED pharmacist (7a–11p), social worker, respiratory therapy (24/7), ED physicians and APPs, a geriatric APP, hospitalists (24/7), and intensivists (24/7)
