Contract Opportunity: Outsourced Financial Controller CPA Preferred (Nonprofit – Grant-Funded Programs)
The North Carolina Youth Violence Prevention Center (NCYVPC) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced financial professional to provide contracted oversight of our financial operations. This role is designed to strengthen internal controls, ensure compliance with state and federal grant requirements, and support leadership with accurate, timely financial reporting.
This is a part-time, contract-based position with a focus on oversight and accountability rather than day-to-day data entry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Oversee accuracy of general ledger and financial transactions
- Ensure proper coding of expenses by account, program (project), and classification (program vs. administrative)
- Prepare and/or review monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Budget vs. Actual)
- Monitor grant expenditures for compliance with funding requirements and budget allocations
- Identify discrepancies, risks, or internal control gaps and provide corrective recommendations
- Support audit preparation, including documentation review and auditor coordination
- Establish and maintain strong financial oversight processes and monthly close procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or equivalent experience in nonprofit financial management
- Demonstrated experience with grant-funded organizations (state and/or federal funding preferred)
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and audit readiness
- Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks
- Ability to work independently and provide high-level financial insight
Engagement Details:
- Contract position (estimated 10–20 hours per month)
