Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cement Finisher to join our client's team in St. John Parish. In this role, you will be responsible for executing precise finishing work on concrete surfaces, ensuring smooth, durable, and aesthetically pleasing results.
The ideal candidate will fix, pour, and finish cement and asphalt to construct, repair, resurface, and maintain concrete and asphalt walkways, sidewalks, curbs, ramps, and catch basins to specified textures.
This position may be classified as essential during declared emergencies or natural disasters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete.
- Finishes concrete surfaces, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
- Signals concrete delivered to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete.
- Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
- Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.
- Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, with handheld screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
- Removes rough or defective spots from concrete sui1aces, and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
- Molds expansion joints and edges.
- Produces rough concrete surface with broom.
- Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
- Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.
- Occasionally operates equipment such as a backhoe or bobcat while preparing job site.
- Assists department crews with general maintenance as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Must pass drug & background screenings
- Must have a valid driver's license
This is a temp to perm job opportunity with our client based on job performance.
