Trail Ride Guide / Horseback Riding Guide (Seasonal) – Simpsonville, KY
We are hiring dependable and experienced horseback riding guides for our seasonal trail riding operation in Simpsonville, KY. This is a customer-facing outdoor position working with both horses and guests in a guided trail ride setting. The season runs from April through November, with both part-time and full-time opportunities available.
We are looking for confident riders who are comfortable handling horses safely, communicating with guests, and working in a team-oriented environment. Previous trail riding, lesson, ranch, barn, or equine customer service experience is preferred.
Schedule
Operating Days: Wednesday–Sunday
Available Shifts:
- Morning Shift: 7:00 AM – 12:30 PM
- Afternoon/Evening Shift: 12:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Compensation
- Hourly pay $16.00 starting
- Tips are frequently earned
- Independent contractor position
Responsibilities
- Groom, tack, and prepare horses for scheduled rides
- Bring horses in from pasture and return them after rides
- Assist guests with check-in, waivers, and helmet fitting
- Provide basic riding and safety instructions to guests
- Lead or assist guided trail rides
- Monitor horse and rider safety throughout rides
- Clean and organize tack and work areas after rides
- Support general barn and guest service operations as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent horseback riding experience
- Comfortable riding independently at walk, trot, and canter
- Ability to safely handle horses on the ground and under saddle
- Previous experience around trail rides, lessons, barns, ranches, or equine programs preferred
- Friendly, professional, and comfortable working with the public
- Reliable transportation and punctuality required
- Must be at least 18 years old
Helpful Skills:
- Grooming and basic horse care
- Saddling and bridling
- Recognizing common signs of horse discomfort or illness
- Trail riding or group riding experience
- Experience leading beginner riders is a plus
