The primary duties of the Maintenance Technician are general upkeep of campus buildings, equipment and grounds including light plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, appliance repair, furniture moving/set-up, landscaping and waste management. Under the direction of the Technical Trades Coordinator, the maintenance technician completes daily tasks, assigned work orders and assists both the Technical and Architectural Trades technicians in completing planned maintenance and repairs. The maintenance technician position is largely self-directed, must provide excellent customer service and communicate well.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. The hourly pay rate will be determined at the time of offer. The posted pay range is Indeed-calculated.

- Cleaning up after completing tasks

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and will also demonstrate many, but necessarily all, of the following skills, abilities, and characteristics. If you think your skillset could contribute to our departmental program, please still apply.
- College degree in related field and five years management experience in waste management and/or grounds operations.
- Advanced organizational skills, competent verbal and written communication skills.
- Purchasing experience, with financial and budgeting skills.
- Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and a driving record in accord with College policy and maintain a good driving record in accord with college policy.
- Minimum of three years previous experience in property management maintenance, other building maintenance, or related trade.
- Experience with lighting and basic electrical repair required
- Experience in or Certified in either HVAC, NATE, or EPA 608 is preferred but not required
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills, ability to pass mechanical aptitude test
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills, ability to use e-mail and computerized maintenance management system
- Orientation toward safety and safe work practices
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have working phone for emergency contact
- Must be able to work overtime and report for after-hours emergencies
