JOB SUMMARY:
The Routing Coordinator Supervisor provides leadership and oversight of all student transportation routing operations for the district. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving regular education, special education, alternative program, homeless, non-public, charter, preschool, and activity transportation services. The Routing Coordinator Supervisor leads the district's routing team and ensures transportation services are safe, efficient, compliant, customer-focused, and fiscally responsible. The position serves as the district expert in transportation software, route optimization, transportation analytics, bell-time alignment, and transportation compliance. This role combines strategic planning, data analysis, operational leadership, and customer service while supporting the district's mission to provide equitable access to education through safe and reliable transportation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Supervision

Supervise and evaluate Routing Coordinators and routing support staff.

Establish departmental goals and performance metrics.

Develop routing team procedures and best practices.

Lead routing team meetings and operational planning sessions.

Participate in transportation leadership meetings.
Routing & Planning

Direct the development and maintenance of all transportation routes.

Transportation Software Administration

Serve as district administrator for routing software.

Maintain student transportation databases.

Ensure accurate geocoding and stop placement.

Oversee GIS mapping and transportation boundaries.

Monitor specialized transportation utilization.

Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining compliance.
Bell Time Optimization

Conduct bell-time studies as requested

Recommend route tiering improvements.

Analyze school start/end times for transportation efficiency.

Support district-wide scheduling initiatives.
Contractor & Vendor Coordination

Collaborate with transportation contractors.

Monitor route performance.

Review route bids and service agreements.
-
Participate in contract management activities.

Resolve service concerns and operational issues.
Customer Service & Stakeholder Relations

Present transportation information to district leadership

Support public communication efforts.

Build positive relationships with families and community partners.
Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1-3 years experience coordinating routing for a school district.
-
High school diploma or GED.
-
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.

Ability to manage interruptions and refocus effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
