Concrete Lead Carpenter / Working Foreman
JSR Construction, Inc. is a San Diego–based commercial structural concrete contractor seeking an experienced Concrete Lead Carpenter who can independently run assigned work while reporting directly to the Project Superintendent.
This is a hands-on field leadership position—not an entry-level carpenter role. The right candidate must be capable of reviewing plans, laying out work, directing a small crew, coordinating daily activities, and maintaining production without constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Independently lead assigned concrete work and small crews
- Read and interpret structural and architectural plans
- Perform layout for footings, foundations, walls, slabs, curbs, and related concrete work
- Build and oversee concrete formwork
- Coordinate reinforcing steel, embeds, blockouts, and concrete placement
- Plan daily manpower, materials, tools, and equipment
- Communicate progress, field conditions, and material needs to the Project Superintendent
- Maintain quality, productivity, housekeeping, and jobsite safety
- Assist with concrete placement and carpentry work as needed
- Verify completed work before requesting inspection or concrete placement
- Accurately document daily work, manpower, and field issues
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of commercial concrete carpentry experience preferred
- Previous experience as a Lead Carpenter, Working Foreman, or Concrete Foreman
- Strong knowledge of concrete formwork, layout, reinforcing steel, and placement operations
- Ability to read plans and independently organize work
- Ability to lead a crew professionally and maintain productivity
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Able to work at projects throughout San Diego County, from Chula Vista to Valley Center
- OSHA training and bilingual English/Spanish are helpful but not required
